Adlerian therapy uses early recollections to help people move past dysfunctional thoughts and actions.

Adlerian therapy was created by Alfred Adler, who was once a colleague of Sigmund Freud. Adlerian therapy uses early memories to help us move past our behavior that is not working for us. Adler believed that we get stuck in these past memories and we must resolve them in order to move forward. He also believed that we have this need to belong, both in society and in our family.

When you see an Adlerian therapist they will talk to you about not only your early memories, but also your birth order and role you play in your family. Adlerian’s believe that our feelings of inferiority become a motivating factor in how we develop our skills, talents, and how we overcome our sense of inadequacy.

Feelings of inferiority can cause neuroses and problems in our daily lives. It feeds anxiety and can make us so that we struggle with making social connections and living a full life.
